The Coast Guard was formed in Bangladesh with the passage of the Coast Guard Act 1994 in the Great National Assembly and the Bangladesh Coast Guard started its journey on 14 February 1995 with the motto "GUARDIAN AT SEA" as a paramilitary independent force. Prior to the founding of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, the Bangladesh Navy was responsible for all maritime defense missions following Bangladesh's independence. With the growth of commercial activity, the importance of the sea has grown, and it is difficult for the navy to discharge more obligations in coastal regions while still fulfilling its own responsibilities. In September 1994, the Coast Guard Act 1994 was approved with the 1994 Great Jubilee, and the "GUARDIAN AT SEA" was founded in this basic point of view, Bangladesh Coast Guard. The Coast Guard Act-2016, which continues the expansion of the coast guard, was enacted by the great parliament on March 13, 2016. The Bangladesh Coast Guard is currently responsible for law enforcement, smuggling, illicit fishing, and piracy.
